Our centre is based in the iconic and historic village of Deia in the Sierra de Tramuntana Mountains on the north west coast of the Island of Mallorca, the largest of the Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean Sea. The village is built around a church topped hill in a terraced valley that leads down to the crystal waters of the beach at Cala Deia.
I am so glad I chose Deia Retreats for my second retreat. Everyone was very helpful and kind as well as friendly and accommodating. Food was fantastic as were the accommodation and treatments. Farzin A., Facilitator
The village dates back to prehistoric times. The name Deia comes from the word ad daia meaning Hamlet, which it was given by the Moorish settlers during 10th-13th Centuries. Over the years Deia became an escape for romantics, bohemians, painters and poets and is still home to many artists, writers, musicians and creatives who find inspiration and sanctuary in this magical place.
Nestled in a valley of Mediterranean Pine, Olive, Citrus and Cypress trees, the scent-filled lanes are overflowing with colourful bushes of Bougainvillea, Jasmine, Plumbago, Morning Glory and many more. The house and gardens of Deia Retreats is surrounded by nature with views of the terraced hillside, leading up to the church, and the breathtaking mountains of the Sierra de Tramuntana. The crystal bay at Cala Deia is a pleasant walk down a path through the natural beauty surrounding the village.
The retreat house is in a lovely location and very nicely equipped inside. I enjoyed my stay and would rate the overall experience 9 out of 10. Liz B., UK
